Bailey Peacock-Farrell is set to be ruled out of Leeds United’s Championship clash against Bristol City on Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa has revealed.

Speaking at his media conference on Thursday lunchtime, as quoted by the official Leeds Twitter account, the United manager explained the goalkeeper is almost certain to be unavailable with a knee injury sustained in training on Wednesday.

With on-loan keeper Jamal Blackman back at parent club Chelsea after breaking his leg last week, Bielsa explained academy keeper Kamil Miazek is likely to start against Bristol City at Elland Road.

OPINION

Leeds’ medical team are being run off their feet as the team’s injury crisis continues to bite. With Pontus Jansson ruled out of the Bristol City match with a foot injury sustained against West Brom a fortnight ago, Bielsa will be unable to call upon a slew of key stars that also include long-term absentees Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi and Patrick Bamford, as well as another loanee Izzy Brown, who is working his way back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Leeds fans will be keeping their fingers crossed no more outfield players break down between now and Saturday afternoon, but there’s no denying the absence of the two senior keepers is escalating the chaos of a massive injury crisis. Miazek and fellow academy keeper Will Huffer have no first-team experience at such a high level, and there is a real risk the wheels could come off for Leeds, even though they have coped so well without key players over the last few months.
