Newcastle United are eyeing up a reginited raid for Paris Saint-Germain left back Stanley N’Soki in January after failing to bring him to St James’ Park over the summer, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Magpies are looking to fill the void behind first choice left back Paul Dummett, wit his injury blow throwing the role into the air as Rafael Benitez looks to a makeshift solution.

It is stated that the north east side made an approach for 19-year-old French under-21 international N’Soki over the summer but failed in their bid to seal a move but with just eight appearances for the French giants this season a loan move could be on the cards, with Newcastle able to sign players temporarily from Europe.

Good move for Newcastle?

The Magpies desperately need someone to fill in behind Dummett, for when injury or suspension hit they are left woefully unprepared in the position.

At 19 and with limited game time, N’Soki might well be willing to get a taste of English football and could offer some serious competition to Dummett – although the Welshman has performed admirably without anyone pushing him for his place.

The fact he is still picking up the odd game for PSG suggests he has plenty of talent, but is a loan really what Newcastle need?

They would much prefer someone permanent through the door, and so this one might be put on the backburner if another talent is made available to sign.

Likely to happen?

It all depends on whether the French giants want to keep him on board as backup, having already played his part in the first team.

If that is the case, then there is no way Newcastle will be able to convince them to let him leave, even if the player himself wants the move.

It is a similar situation to the one involving Isaac Hayden, where the midfielder wanted to leave over summer but Benitez wanted to keep him as back up. Did he get the move he was looking for? No.
