When Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe suddenly came into form this season, many supporters may have thought they were in dreamland.

His form so far has helped the Whites establish themselves as one of the favourites for promotion this term, but it is obvious that a swoop for a forward with a little bit more experience may just guarantee them that coveted spot in the Premier League.

When Roofe was injured, manager Marcelo Bielsa had to turn to the young Tyler Roberts and even though he coped with the responsibility well, he cannot be relied upon to provide cover.

That is why Leeds must swoop for free agent Giuseppe Rossi, who was last seen at Serie A outfit Genoa.

The 31-year-old has proven Premier League experience with the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle, and even netted an impressive 127 goals throughout his career, including his six year stint at Spanish side Villarreal.

It is safe to say that figure is rather impressive – and even though he is unlikely to replicate that sort of form in the Championship, there is no doubt that he would provide the cutting edge that Bielsa is looking for.

However, a player with a CV like Rossi’s, which included 29 caps for Italy, is not likely to be persuaded to join Leeds easily – but if anybody can twist his arm, it is Bielsa.

His fitness may be questionable seeming as he has just recovered from a serious cruciate ligament injury, but the manager would certainly rest easy at night knowing he has a vastly-experienced forward to call upon if a result is not going Leeds’ way.

Rossi is without a club, so his best bet is moving to a club like Leeds who are definitely heading in the right direction in terms of progress.

Bielsa can guarantee promotion with a swoop for the proven attacker who can transform Leeds instantly,  leaving Elland Road in a state of elation.
