Leeds United legend Ian Harte has sent a Twitter message to youngster Jack Clarke after their 2-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, reassuring him that he will be handed a start soon.

The Whites fell behind early to a Danny Graham header before Mateusz Klich scored his fifth goal of the season to equalise, but Darragh Lenihan’s effort saw the home side take the three points.

Harte has now sent a Twitter message to Clarke after his initial post on the social media platform, encouraging the 18-year-old to keep working hard and pushing for a starting role.

OPINION

This is a message from Harte which will give Clarke heart moving forward following a difficult loss to Rovers on Saturday. The Whites were back in control after Klich’s equaliser but their defending from set-pieces let them down again as Lenihan secured the win at Ewood Park. Clarke was given a 15-minute cameo by manager Marcelo Bielsa, coming on for Stuart Dallas just after Blackburn’s second goal. The youngster was a bright spark for Leeds in those closing moments, getting off several shots and working his way into some really good positions. Those who have watched Leeds youth teams over the past season or so will know that Clarke is a real talent and is looking the most likely out of any academy player to break through into the first-team soon. The attacker scores on a regular basis and often looks a level above the opposition and his teammates, and Bielsa has obviously recognised that. As Harte says, as long as he keeps working hard then that start will eventually come, especially if the Whites keep putting in performances like this one.
