Harrison could benefit from change of role

Leeds United richly deserved their late equaliser against Brentford in the Championship on Saturday, but their overall performance did leave a lot to be desired.

The Whites particularly struggled going forward, with young striker Tyler Roberts failing to fire like he had in their previous few matches, while the creativity in wide areas was severely lacking.

One culprit on the day was right winger Jack Harrison, who really strived to make an impact down that flank but unfortunately failed to do so in a damp squib of a display

The Brentford defence had his number all day, and he looked out of ideas by the end of the match after his efforts had fallen flat so many times.

Harrison is an extremely talented player, but there is a feeling that the wing may not be his strongest position, despite the fact he has played there his whole life.

The 21-year-old is not particularly fast, and while there are wingers around who do lack that top level of pace, he does not have the experience to succeed on a regular basis without it.

His first goal for Leeds earlier this season against Millwall demonstrated what he can do when he comes more central, and maybe Marcelo Bielsa needs to consider moving the 5ft 9in Manchester City loanee in the middle of the park [Transfermarkt].

That is an area which Leeds struggled to create in as well on Saturday, and you do feel as though both the club and the player would benefit from such a move.

Obviously there are players like Samu Saiz already there for the Whites, but the Spaniard is not on brilliant form either, and an experiment with Harrison down the middle may pay dividends in the long-run for Leeds.
