beIN SPORTS pundit Andy Gray believes that Thierry Henry and John Terry would make the perfect team at Aston Villa.
“It would excite me and I think it would excite Aston Villa fans,” Gray said as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
“A bit like Steven Gerrard going into Rangers lifted the whole club, Frank Lampard going into Derby.
“Iconic Premier League footballers from the era John played going into management, Thierry Henry going into management, the Villa fans, I am sure, would embrace it wholly.
“They know John Terry, John played there, John enjoyed the club so if they can get that over the line, there is no guarantee of success but it would lift the club immensely.”

It’s not often that we agree with Andy Gray. He seems to be spending all his time at the moment supporting Mike Ashley at Newcastle but for once he’s talking sense here. Steven Gerrard has given Rangers a huge lift. Frank Lampard has done the same at Derby. Henry has been in the frame for a couple of jobs and some club will snap him up soon – Villa should make sure it’s them. He’s right as well when he says that it’s no guarantee of success. But there were plenty of naysayers over Gerrard and Lampard and they’ve worked out okay. The important thing, as with any manager appointment, is to support the vision of the new man. Henry will be progressive and he’ll take risks. It’s time for Villa to embrace that.
