A section of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to hail the performance of Mateusz Klich in their 1-1 draw against York City.
The central midfielder lined up in a youthful United side in the pre-season friendly clash against the National League North outfit and played the full 90 minutes.
The Poland international’s performance caught the eye of Leeds supporters, who were universally positive about him and one even went so far as to say he is heading the way of being “the new Luka Modric”.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
#lufc if Klich builds on York performance then we have a player. Its a bit premature to describe him as the new Luca Modric – but he's heading that way !

The only players shown their worth this game:
Klich ?
Viera ?
Baker ?
De Bock (as much as it pains me) ?
Dalby ?
Shackleton ?
Pearce ?
Diaz ?#lufc— Milnesy ? (@milnes2161) July 19, 2018
I thought Klich played well tonight he should never have been sent out on loan last season, he’s better than that excuse of a player O’ Kane who was picked instead.#lufc

Klich hands down our best player tonight, the only player who wants to get on the ball and showing any composure very impressive display?had a lot more control since Klich has moved to CDM. Look forward to seeing him link up with the likes of Forshaw and Pablo #lufc #ALAW #MOT

York City 1 v 1 Leeds XI. Good workout for the young team. Stand out player for me was Klich. Looked really comfortable on the ball and involved in nearly everything. #lufc

COMMENTARY:
Things can change quickly in football, and nowhere is that the case more than Leeds, where managers come and go with frightening regularity. Player out of favour under one regime can suddenly be the chosen one under the next, and it appears many United fans hope that is the case with Klich, who was ignored by ex-boss Thomas Christiansen after his arrival last summer and then loaned out to the Dutch Eredivisie in January. Back at his parent club, the Pole appears to have survived the cull of surplus players at Thorp Arch and will be given the chance by Marcelo Bielsa to push for a first team spot. He will need a series of excellent pre-season matches to make the starting XI for the Stoke league opener. It appears many supporters would love to see him there.
