Leeds have arguably had fairly standard activity in the transfer window this summer with just one senior arrival so far, but they could do with an extra attacking reinforcement to boost their promotion chances.

Spanish publication Diario La Grada – as translated by reliable sports news outlet Sport Witness – have reported that Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo would ‘welcome the possibility’ of moving to England this summer, and that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa ‘wants to have Caicedo in attack’.

In light of this news, Leeds must swoop for the Ecuador international, who will most certainly provide them with the attacking threat they need up front.

One of their current strikers, Marcus Antonsson, only netted eight goals in League One last season, and Pawel Cibicki, who has been shipped out on loan, did not muster up any – meaning they are definitely in need of enhancing their strike force.

The 29-year-old is just the player to solve that problem, and with Caicedo seemingly open to a move to England this summer, now could not be a better time for the Whites to snap him up.

Moving to the Championship, and to a side like Leeds, would help ensure that he recaptures his goal scoring form, having scored six goals last season.

Caicedo does not play a significant role at the Serie A club anymore, and his only chance of salvaging a career in football is to make a move, preferably to Leeds.

The six foot (source: Transfermarkt) attacker has the potential to be a prolific goalscorer, and perhaps playing in Italy was never the right move for him the first place, especially if the Italian top-flight is a tough league to star in.

No player, particularly a striker, wants to be surplus to requirements at any club, not least a well-known one like Lazio – but he is going to face a future like that if he remains in Italy.

Now Leeds need to show they are serious about promotion, and they must pounce for Caicelo, who would be a sufficient reinforcement.
