Nottingham Forest are on the verge of securing the addition of Bournemouth forward Lewis Grabban, as the 30-year-old is set to have a medical today (Friday), according to the Mirror.

The English newspaper reported on their live transfer blog [Thursday 08:06 pm] that Grabban’s medical is scheduled for Friday, and once given the ‘all clear’ the green light will be given ahead of a seven-figure move worth £6million.

Grabban’s most recent action was also in the Championship, where he played on loan for Aston Villa at the end of last season, scoring eight goals as Villa lost the playoff final.

Aitor Karanka has already finalised eight transfers this summer, and Grabban would be yet another fine addition, as the Spaniard sets his sights on the Premier League.

Good move for Forest?

In a word, yes.

Although Grabban is not getting any younger, the forward is a guaranteed goal threat, and has vast experience at the Championship level.

Karanka is building a nice looking squad at Forest, and adding Grabban to the mix makes it hard to think that they will not push for the playoffs this season.

Should that be the case, Grabban’s time with Villa will pay dividends, as the Bournemouth man will know what it takes to win (and lose) at that level.

Likely to happen?

Also yes.

The Mirror’s report states that the medical is already in the books, and barring any major surprises on Friday when it takes place, this one is a done deal.

Bournemouth are looking to cash in on the winger, who would not be able to earn first-team football in the Premier League, and Forest are desperate for more goals.

Grabban is also likely to be a feature player at the City Ground, something that he might not see too often as he enters the latter stages of his career.
