OPINION??

Leeds United have several positions that need addressing during the summer transfer window if they are going to transform into promotion containers in the Championship next season.

One of the main positions the Whites need to fix is in goal, where both Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan have failed miserably this campaign.

They do have academy graduate Bailey Peacock-Farrell proving his worth with a late end of season run-in, but they do need to add an extra shot-stopper for next season at Elland Road.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side should turn their attention to England Under-21 international Dean Henderson, who would be a brilliant signing for the Yorkshire giants.

News outlet ESPN reports that the Manchester United goalkeeper is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and that they face a battle to keep him.

It is understood that there is a host of interest in him from Premier League, Championship and European clubs.

Henderson has been a key player this season out on loan with League One promotion chasers Shrewsbury Town and was even included in the division’s team of the year.

The shot-stopper has kept a sensational 17 clean sheets in 44 appearances for Shrewsbury and is a highly-rated goalkeeper.

Leeds should certainly try to secure a deal for Henderson when he is available in the summer and signing him would be a big step towards building a team capable of a promotion bid.

He certainly looks good enough to make the step up to the Championship and has also come through England’s youth teams.
