Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to a tweet by goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell after the club announced a partnership with NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers.

The Whites announced on their official website on Thursday that they have formed a strategic partnership with the Californian American football side, with owner Andrea Radrizzani selling some of his shares in order to invest in the first team squad.

Paraag Marathe, President of 49ers Enterprises and Executive Vice President of Football Operations, has also joined the Elland Road board as a result of Radrizzani selling some of his shares in what is a very unique deal across two major sports.

There has been a lot said by fans on Twitter about the adventurous partnership and it seems that the club has used fan favourite Peacock-Farrell to kickstart the partnership by picturing him wearing a San Francisco 49ers jersey at Elland Road.

The shot-stopper, who broke into the first team squad this season by playing all 11 of the last Championship fixtures, took to his personal Twitter account to say: “Delighted to welcome 49ers to the Leeds family.”

That prompted a range of response for Leeds fans, who some of which did not exactly like the colour of shirt that Peacock-Farrell was wearing.

Another Whites fan dubbed it as “embarrassing”.
