Wolves have not yet approached AC Milan with an enquiry about signing centre-forward Andre Silva, according to Express and Star reporter Tim Spiers.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that the Championship title holders have not made contact about Silva, despite reports elsewhere that have stated the contrary.

Silva cost AC Milan £35million less than a year ago when he moved from Porto, according to the Daily Mail, but has struggled to adapt in Serie A as he has made just seven starts in the league.

OPINION

Silva is bound to be linked with Wolves this summer due to him having Jorge Mendes as his agent. The Portugal international may want to follow his former Porto team-mate Ruben Neves to Molineux, but at this stage, nothing will happen unless Wolves want it to. There is no rush to get deals done as of yet and the World Cup can change a lot. Silva, unlike Neves, will be on the plane to Russia and surely Nuno Espirito Santo will want to see how the striker gets on before spending what is bound to be a lot of money on him. The striker’s record this season has not been the best, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a success at Molineux if he was to quit the San Siro. Across all competitions, Silva scored 10 goals in 40 appearances, although the bulk of his strikes came in the Europa League. It seems he was never fancied to be a star player there and that could force him to leave.
