Werder Bremen forward Aron Johannsson is most likely to be the next signing that Leeds United wrap up in the summer transfer window, according to Football Whispers.

German news outlet DeichStube has previously reported that Leeds were priced out of signing the 19-times USA international last year before the Yorkshire giants decided to snap up Pierre-Michel Lasogga on loan from Hamburg.

Johannsson, 27, has struggled this season for Bundesliga club Werder Bremen, scoring just two goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.

Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 3.6 out of 5 that Johannsson will join Leeds next.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds should avoid Johannsson at all costs after a miserable season in the Bundesliga saw him find the net just once in the league when he scored in a 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Whites clearly would not have learned from past mistakes if they were to get a goal-shy striker from Germany after Lasogga’s loan deal failed to pull up any trees.

Johannsson has been on the books at Bremen since 2015, but has only scored five total goals due to several injury issues.

If Leeds sign him then all hope is lost.

Likely to happen?

Football Whispers rate it quite highly that Johannsson will be heading to Elland Road but given his seriously bad goalscoring record, it’s hard to see this coming true.

Lasogga’s loan deal means that Victor Orta will more than likely look for a move proven domestic striker than scouring the Bundesliga again,
