Leeds United attacker Jay-Roy Grot proved once again in the Championship that he is still miles off the pace and the club must now consider loaning him out next season.

The 20-year-old featured in a cameo role on Friday night in the 1-0 league defeat to Aston Villa, which stretched the club’s horrific form as the end of the season draws closer.

He was introduced to the action after 66 minutes by manager Paul Heckingbototm and offered no serious threat in the final third, something that has become a regular occurrence this season.

Grot is a versatile attacker that can be deployed as a winger or a centre-forward, but quite simply doesn’t look ready for senior football.

The Dutchman has scored just once in 21 appearances for the Whites since his summer arrival and fared much better during his spell at Under-23s level .

Most Leeds fans have grown tired of the youngster already and have written off his Elland Road future, but he should viewed as someone for the future.

The Yorkshire giants should consider sending Grot out on loan next season, where he can enjoy regular first-team football and that will also help him adapt to English football.

Leeds striker Marcus Antonsson has scored eight goals in all competitions during a loan spell with Blackburn Roves this campaign and something of that vein would suit Grot.

Grot has a physical presence that should make him a force in the Championship, but plying his trade in the lower leagues at his young age will be worth it in the long run.
