Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe is back in training, it has been confirmed.

The Whites announced on their official Twitter account that the 25-year-old has returned to the training fields and that will be a huge boost to the side.

He has been sidelined since 21 February after he was forced off during the 2-2 draw with Derby County with a calf injury.

Roofe now appears to be back on the mend and fans are waiting to see if he can play a role in Paul Heckingbottom’s squad at the weekend in the home clash with Sunderland.

The versatile attacker can play anywhere across the frontline and has been a key first-team member this season.

He has made 33 appearances across all competitions this term and his return of 12 goals shows his quality in front of goal.

OPINION

Roofe looks set to make a timely return for Leeds and should be desperate to prove himself to Heckingbottom in the remainder of the campaign. The Yorkshire giants can have a free swing in the rest of the six Championship matches and fans will want to see some attacking intent. Leeds have opted to rotate their forward options recently and there would be no harm in throwing Roofe up top, where he has had success in the past. He could also be deployed out wide and is player that moving forward could make a difference at Elland Road. Leeds fans have been a tad harsh on him at times this campaign, but there have been far worse performers and his goal return is decent.
