Sunderland manager Chris Coleman has praised Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell after his performance at the weekend.

The Whites welcomed Sunderland to Elland Road on Saturday for a Championship fixture and the teams drew 1-1, a result which leaves the visitors in deep relegation trouble still.

Meanwhile, Paul Heckingbottom’s side continued their poor form of late and most fans have already turned their attention to next season.

Paddy McNair had put away side Sunderland in front early into the second period, but creative maestro Pablo Hernandez earned a point for his side with a smart finish.

Black Cats manager Coleman decided to single out opposition player Peacock-Farrell for his individual performance and credited him for his efforts.

The 21-year-old made a brilliant save from striker Ashley Fletcher and has had a lot of plaudits since he broke into the starting XI.

“What a save [from Fletcher]. Incredible save. He looked good. He played well,” Coleman said on Peacock-Farrell, as cited by Leeds Live.

OPINION

Peacock-Farrell is one of the few Leeds players right now that are doing themselves justice and he is putting up a good case to be number one next season. The youngster may have conceded in all six of his league appearances, but the defence have been all over the place at times and that is not a fair reflection of him. He continues to make some brilliant saves and show that he is a great shot-stopper. Peacock-Farrell has been tipped for a bright future in recent years following his success at youth level and next season may finally be the time for him to make a full senior step up.
