If Leeds United’s players were playing for their careers at the club against Sunderland, then Pierre-Michel Lasogga clearly isn’t interested in having a future at Elland Road.

The Whites drew 1-1 with the Black Cats on Saturday and the 26-year-old forward did nothing to help his side win the game.

Lasogga barely looked bothered during the game, which was shown by his clear reluctant to run in order to get the ball.

The centre-forward was not in the mood to make the most of his opportunities nor was he keen to make the best of his teammates’ passes.

After watching his display against Sunderland, Leeds’ supporters will no doubt want Lasogga out of their club in the summer.

The 26-year-old is clearly talented, shown by the fact he has been able to score 10 goals this season, but fans won’t appreciate a player that won’t try.

Fellow Leeds forward Caleb Ekuban may struggle to find the net but he always looks like he’s trying his best, and supporters appreciate that more than anything else.

Everyone should be playing for their future at Leeds, as Paul Heckingbottom hasn’t exactly had much to be impressed by since taking over as manager at the club.

However Lassoga more than anyone else should be trying to make a case about why he deserves to be at the club next season.

The 26-year-old is on loan at the Whites from Hamburg until the end of the season, with the club, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, paying £15,000-per-week of his £50,000-a-week wage during the course of his loan.

The local newspaper’s report also revealed that Leeds have an option to sign him at the end of his loan included in their original agreement.

But the Whites will not take up their option if he continues to play like he did against Sunderland, and that means the forward will be searching for another club in the summer.

Lassoga struggled to feature in Hamburg’s team before departing, so it’s unlikely he’ll get first-team football there again, meaning he needs to leave.

With this in mind, even though the forward’s future is uncertain he clearly doesn’t want to be at Leeds’ next season based on his performance on Saturday.
