Leeds United fans certainly didn’t see eye-to-eye with their striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga in the early stages of the season, but they now know their promotion chances hinge on his performances.

The 26-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Elland Road and was very unpopular with Whites supporters after a slow start to life in English football.

He is not the most eye-catching player with his physical presence and is a very much a poacher, which made him an easy scapegoat and despised by many.

However, he has managed to get the large majority of fans back on side and his impressive form recently now means he has 10 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Lasogga has hit a purple patch of form and it’s crucial he keeps that up in the remainder of the campaign as the frontline striker.

Leeds are currently six points adrift of the play-off positions, but know that embarking on a winning run could well see them finish in the top six come the end of the season.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side need to try pick up maximum points on their trip to Middlesbrough on Friday night and that will give them a big confidence lift.

The Yorkshire giants will rely on key moments in front of goal to win them games and Lasogga definitely has it within himself to fire them to the play-offs.

Leeds now have creative maestro Samuel Saiz back from suspension and Lasogga needs to keep getting in the right positions to win them matches.
