Leeds United heads may already be turned towards next season as they look set for a mid-table finish in the Championship and it makes sense to draw up plans ahead of next year.

The Whites have definitely lacked attacking firepower at times this campaign and failed to find a serious replacement for Chris Wood.

It will be very difficult to find a like-for-like replacement in the summer that can deliver 30 goals a season, which is why manager Paul Heckingbottom needs to try sign a few brand new attacking options if he is backed by the owner.

One name that should crop into their plans is Crystal Palace ace Bakary Sako, who would be an ideal signing to bring in at Elland Road.

The 29-year-old is currently in the Premier League with Palace, but his contract expires at the end of the season.

Leeds must look to pounce for his signature and convince him to join a fresh promotion bid in the Championship.

The explosive attacker can play anywhere across the frontline and previously proved himself in England’s second-tier, scoring 24 goals and supplying 21 assists in 78 games for Wolves.

He looked in good touch for Palace too this season with six goals in just 19 games, but an ankle injury has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

Sako would be a brilliant capture for any team in the Championship given his versatility and strenth, and would be a match made in heaven for Leeds.

The main criticism of Leeds’ director of football is a majority of their signings had very little Championship experience, but Sako is a powerful attacker that would tick all the boxes.
