Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom definitely has his work cut out to turn the current squad into promotion candidates next season and an area that he needs to address is the midfield.

Adam Forshaw has become very dependable since he arrived in January at Elland Road and is someone that can continue to be a mainstay moving into the next campaign.

However, the other central midfield role is definitely up for grabs and Irishman Eunan O’Kane is somebody that should be dismissed given his displays this season.

Meanwhile, young pair Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips are both too inconsistent to be relied upon over the course of a long 46-game season.

The Whites would be best served going out to buy a new player and the problems in midfield are bug part of the reason they are 12 points adrift of the play-offs as it stands.

West Brom look set for Championship football next season as they are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, but they still have some good players that should be snapped up.

Midfield destroyer Claudio Yacob is someone that has to catch the eye of Leeds and the fact that his contract expires in the summer makes a move realistic.

The 30-year-old is renowned for being a no-nonsense defensive midfielder and would definitely be a big success with the Elland Road faithful.

He is extremely comfortable in possession too and a potential Forshaw-Yacob combination in midfield would prove deadly at Championship level.

Yacob has an impressive 158 Premier League appearances under his belt and Heckingbottom should tempt him into a stint in the Championship.

The Argentinian looks tailor-made to the competitiveness of the division and his signature would be a real step in the right direction in building a team fit for a promotion assault.
