Andy Couzens has claimed that he has been impressed by the form of Leeds United centre-forward Pierre-Michel Lassoga, but insists that he could still do with some help in the final third.

The 26-year-old has hit a purple patch of form in front of goal and has scored five goals in his last six league games.

He got on the scoresheet on Wednesday night with a close-range header as the Whites drew 2-2 away at Derby County.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side conceded an injury time Kasey Palmer goal to seemingly drop two points and remain eight points adrift of the play-off spots.

Ex-Leeds player Couzens has been impressed by the performances of Lasogga lately, but feels he needs extra support.

The German is renowned for being a powerful figure that can spearhead the attack, but he isn’t blessed with great pace and could perhaps benefit from a quicker player alongside him.

“And let’s not forget Lasogga [has] five in six now and his hold up play is getting better. Definitely needs some help up there, but give him a chance in front of goal he will score more than he will miss,” Couzens wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Lasogga is finally beginning to show his true quality at Elland Road and had to deal with a turbulent start to life with the Yorkshire giants following a loan switch. He now has 10 goals in 23 appearances this campaign and there is no doubt he can be trusted in front of goal. The return of playmaker Samuel Saiz could even make him better and having the Spaniard play just off him could form a deadly partnership. Lasogga is not always the most eye-catching player, but there are enough technicians around him to play aesthetic football and his main task is to score goals.
