Comedian and Arsenal fans Jack Whitehall made a dig at Harry Kane on Wednesday night – and Tottenham fans on Twitter have responded with anger to his comments.

Whitehall made a witty remark about Spurs’ chances of winning silverware this season while hosting the annual Brit Awards.

“Our next presenter is a Tottenham striker… meaning the Brit award he hands out tonight will probably be the only trophy he gets his hands on this season,” said Whitehall at the Brit Awards, as quoted by The Sun.

Spurs are without a trophy since the 2008 League Cup success, but are still in the hunt for the FA Cup and Champions League this campaign.

Meanwhile, North London rivals Arsenal have already reached a cup final and face Manchester City at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

The bitter rivals are fifth and sixth respectively in the Premier League table, but it’s Mauricio Pochettino’s side who hold a large seven-point lead over Arsenal.

Prolific centre-forward Kane has been the difference in several North London derbies recently and this season he has already scored a stunning 34 goals in 35 games across all competitions.

Spurs fans on social media couldn’t resist reacting to Whitehall’s wind up and his Arsenal connections certainly didn’t help his cause.

One supporter suggested Whitehall was a “bitter Arsenal fan”, while another is convinced that he was jealous of the current Spurs squad.
