Leeds United’s promotion charge is beginning to derail with a poor start to 2018 and they suffered another setback with a 4-3 defeat to Millwall on Saturday in the league.

There were certainly positives to take from a spirited second-half performance, but once again ill-discipline cost the Whites as captain Liam Cooper was shown a red card in the first-half.

Thomas Christiansen’s side are just three points off the play-off spots, but the race for the top six is expected to go down to the wire and they have dropped down to 10th in the Championship table.

The Yorkshire giants could still do with an attacking signing in the remainder of the January window to bolster their squad, with defender Laurens De Bock and midfielder Adam Forshaw already signed up this month.

Leeds snapped up Forshaw for £4.5million and have shown they are willing to spend to help their promotion hopes.

News outlet Goal report that Stoke have submitted a £3.25m bid for winger Jack Harrison from MLS club New York City.

However, the Championship side should enter the running for the 21-year-old and the offer of more regular first-team football should be a big appeal.

Ezgjan Alioski’s Leeds form has fallen off a cliff in recent weeks and adding an extra wide option would be a smart move by manager Christiansen.

Harrison is an English-born talent that has made a name for himself over in USA and has caught the attention of Stoke.

The right-winger is renowned for his brilliant technical ability and dribbling speed, something that would see him tear up Championship defences.

He has an excellent work-rate and most importantly has shown he can be a goal threat.

Harrison has made 61 senior appearances for New York City, scoring 14 goals and supplying 10 assists in return.

The speedy attacker is only going to improve with age and Leeds should try to snap up the highly-rated talent to improve their chances of a Premier League return.
