Leeds United fans on Twitter were amused that Yosuke Ideguchi got booked after just minutes of his debut for Cultural Leonesa in their 2-1 defeat to Osasuna on Sunday.
Ideguchi, 21, completed a move to United earlier in the January window but he was immediately loaned out to Spanish Segunda Division side Cultural for the remainder of the season.
The Japan international, who is a central midfielder, came off the bench with 11 minutes to go when he replaced Sergio Marcos, but could do little to help his side overcome a one-goal deficit as Leonesa slumped to defeat to further increase their relegation worries.
Ideguchi was booked in the 89th minute and United fans were quite to seize upon this disciplinary faux pas given the issues that have clouded their team in recent weeks.
Samuel Saiz, Eunan O’Kane, Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips will all be suspended for their league clash against Hull City next weekend, with the former three receiving red cards in the team’s last three matches.
A few Leeds fans joked that Ideguchi should fit in perfectly at Elland Road, while others stated that his parent club badly need him following recent poor results.

Ideguchi was an 80th minute sub for Leonesa today. Looked ok, took up some good positions, seemed comfortable in possession, couple of decent passes. Booked in the 89th min. Overall seems a decent player hopefully he gets a bit more time on the pitch in the coming weeks #lufc pic.twitter.com/JyBbcR2xxZ

Ideguchi is on. Shame it’s in the wrong game, and the wrong country. #lufc

All I know is, if he was a player, we’d have him now

Once he’s got the red card knack we’ll recall him.
