Leeds United are in desperate need of a left-back in the January transfer window and should plot a swoop for Crystal Palace defender Paps Souare.

The Whites fans have been crying out for reinforcements in that area of the pitch ahead of the New Year and Thomas Christiansen must be backed by the board to bring in a new player.

Gaetano Berardi has been the preferred option at full-back this season, but he has his limitations on the left and is much more comfortable on the right flank.

Meanwhile, make-shift defender Vurnon Anita was given chances at left-back at the beginning of the campaign and loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has not worked out at Elland Road.

Leeds are on the cusp of the play-off spots and could just be that shade better if they have a left-footed left-back giving the team a better balance.

The Yorkshire giants should look no further than Selhurst Park for their solution and consider a move for full-back Souare.

The Mail report that Premier League side Palace are willing to offload the 27-year-old on loan in January due to his lack of opportunities.

He returned in the summer after a 12-month layout due to a horrific car accident and now need minutes on the pitch to get back to full fitness.

Souare has featured in two EFL Cup games this campaign and is training with the first team, but is yet to get a serious look in.

Leeds should take a gamble on the Senegal international and try to bring him to Elland Road on a short-term basis.

Souare has been in training and could make a brilliant impact in the Championship if given the opportunity.

The Mail has claimed that Marseille and Galatasaray are interested in landing Palace’s defender, but Leeds must try brush those heavyweights aside with the offer to stay in England.

Souare proved himself to be a left-sided flyer with brilliant pace before his accident and he could be the missing piece of the jigsaw for Leeds.
