Everton are one of several teams interested in signing Leicester’s academy star Josh Eppiah, according to ESPN.

The news outlet claims that the Toffees are keen on landing the 19-year-old centre-forward, who can also be used out in wide positions.

It is understood that the Merseyside club are joined by West Ham, Bournemouth, Stoke, Leeds, Wolves and RB Leipzig in interested suitors for the in-demand Leicester star.

The report details that the Foxes are reluctant to lose their upcoming talent, but are aware of growing interest in a player that is still yet to make his senior debut.

Everton’s assistant manager Craig Shakespeare is a big fan of Eppiah after working with him during his time at Leicester and even promoted him to first-team training on regular occasions.

Good move for Everton?

Everton certainly need to bolster their attacker in the January transfer window and a new striker is imperative.

Eppiah is a rising star at Leicester that is being tipped for big things, but should not be a priority in the New Year. ??The Belgian is still yet to represent the Foxes at senior level and would not be ready in the near future to make the step up at Goodison Park.

Everton are always keen to promote youth at Goodison Park and in that respect snapping up in-demand Eppiah is smart, but there are bigger fish to fry right now.

Likely to happen?

Everton could well make a move for Eppiah given the influence of Shakespeare, who is clearly a huge admirer after working with him at Leicester.

The Merseyside club look to promote youth and would surely be willing to take a gamble.

However, Leicester are believed to be reluctant to lose their prized possession and there would also be the fierce competition for his signature if he becomes available.
