Leeds United fans took to Twitter to rave about Pawel Cibicki after he shone on his first league start for the club in their 1-0 Championship win against Norwich City on Saturday.

Cibicki was given the nod to start for the home side in a wide forward role even though Pablo Hernandez was pronounced fit after missing the win at QPR last weekend with a hamstring injury.

The summer signing from Malmo justified his selection by setting up the only goal of the game with a free-kick from out wide that was glanced in at the near post by centre-back Pontus Jansson, his second goal in consecutive Elland Road fixtures.

Cibicki’s set pieces were impressive throughout the match and were a key element of Leeds’ attacking threat as they secured a fourth win from six league games since the last international break following triumphs against Middlesbrough, Barnsley and Queens Park Rangers.

The victory cemented Leeds’ place at seventh in the Championship table, where they are now just a single point behind the final play-off spot.

The Elland Road faithful took to Twitter to express their satisfaction with the 23-year-old’s performance, with many commenting on his excellent delivery from set pieces and one hailing him as the ‘right footed Ian Harte’, in homage to the club’s former left-back renowned for his brilliant free-kicks, corners and penalties.
