David Prutton has predicted Leeds United to beat Hull City when they clash at Elland Road on Saturday in the Championship.

The Whites host Hull at the weekend for a league clash and the pair have different ambitions this season.

Thomas Christiansen’s side are currently seventh in the table and know that a victory will be enough to lift them into the play-off positions.

The Yorkshire giants have won three of their last four league games and have begun to hit top form in December.

Meanwhile, Hull are 19th-placed in the table and will hope to stretch their five-point lead ahead of the relegation places.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton believes that Leeds will continue their good run at the weekend and tipped them to record a narrow 1-0 win over Hull.

“Three points for Leeds will lift them back into the play-off places this weekend, which is a great achievement considering how bad their form was a few weeks ago,” Prutton wrote in his column for Sky Sports.

“The defeat at Cardiff last weekend was a bit of a bump back down to earth for Nigel Adkins following the victory in his first game and to be honest I think it will be a similar result for them on Saturday.”

OPINION

Leeds have three games in just seven days on the horizon starting with Hull and the fixture list has certainly been kind to them. 19th-placed Hull are the best team on paper they have to face and the Christmas period is a real opportunity for them to cement a spot in the Championship’s top six. Christiansen will be forced to rotate a few players during the hectic schedule and it could give a few fringe players the opportunity to impress in the league. Leeds have shown in recent weeks that they are beginning to rediscover their top form by grinding out results and going on a long winning run now should put them firmly in the race for promotion.
