Leeds United survived a late scare to move seventh in the Championship table with a 3-1 win at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

United appeared to be cruising to victory after a second-half brace from Kemar Roofe but allowed Rangers to set up a grandstand finale when a goalkeeping gaffe from Felix Wiedwald allowed Pawel Wszolek’s bouncing effort to creep over the line in the 90th minute.

But Roofe kept his composure to complete his hat-trick in the fourth minute of injury time to ensure Leeds bagged a third win from their last five games after an earlier run of six defeats in seven games.

United have now climbed to seventh and to within four points of the top six to reignite their promotion hopes and restore self-belief to a group of players who were at rock bottom a month ago.

The manner of the victory was both exciting for supporters but also worrying ahead of a glut of fixtures that will tell us much about whether this team is capable of ending a 14-year spell in the lower leagues.

This Is Futbol has analysed three things we learned about Leeds from Saturday’s uplifting win, including why director of football Victor Orta must act quickly to push through signings of duo.
