Just when Orta could start to congratulate himself that he got more right than wrong in the summer window, with Samuel Saiz, Ezgjan Alioski, Caleb Ekuban joined by Pawel Cibicki as sound signings who can catapult Leeds into the play-off spots, Wiedwald delivered the kind of horrendous error that forced Andrea Radrizzani to post a Twitter message defending the goalkeeper from social media bile. To the German’s credit, he made a save at 2-1 that kept Leeds in the game but he is far from the solid custodian that the team need to stay in touch at the top. What Wiedwald needs is a Rob Green-type figure to learn from. Orta could do worse than offload Andy Lonergan next month and get Green back.
