Leeds United are ready to send defensive midfielder Ouasim Bouy out on another loan spell in January after being disappointed by his lack of minutes at Spanish club Cultural Leonesa, according to BBC journalist Adam Pope.

It had been reported by Spanish outlet Reyournal that Bouy’s loan deal to the second division Spanish outfit was to be terminated in January, with the midfielder not in the club’s plans.

The Moroccan-Dutch enforcer, who can play in midfield or at centre-back, has managed just 148 minutes in just four appearances in all competitions for Cultural.

The 24-year-old was a summer signing from Juventus, and was sent out on loan to Spain in order to give him minutes, and it now seems as though Leeds are unhappy with his lack of playing time.

BBC Leeds journalist Pope claims that the club are yet to recall Bouy, but it remains an option. It is also said that he may be sent on loan elsewhere.

Pope reported the news on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon:

OPINION

This is an interesting situation, with both clubs obviously disappointed with the way this loan deal has worked out. Leeds sent him to Spain under the assumption that he would play in the Segunda Division, and are now unhappy it has not worked out that way. Cultural obviously thought they were getting a talented player who would fit in at the club, but they are now disappointed in the player and have discarded him from their future plans. Bouy obviously has talent, being a product of the Ajax academy and having spent time at Juventus, but this seems to be a theme of his career so far. This is his seventh loan spell away from his parent clubs, and at 24 years old, time would seem to be running out for the midfielder to show his true quality.
