Leeds midfield enforcer Ronaldo Vieira is set to miss their clash against Birmingham on Saturday through injury, according to a reliable journalist.

Phil Hay, chief football writer at the Yorkshire Evening Post, reported on Twitter on Saturday afternoon that Vieira was missing from the Whites’ squad.

He also reported that star man Samu Saiz is expected to return against the Blues.

The YEP had earlier reported that Vieira was a doubt for the Championship clash, and Hay has seemingly confirmed that the 19-year-old will miss out.

The midfield destroyer, who has been in impressive form for Leeds this season, was caught late in a challenge during the second half of their 2-1 win over Burton last time out, and limped off after 77 minutes.

Saiz’s return will be a welcome boost for the Whites after the Spanish dynamo missed out on their last two matches with a calf complaint.

OPINION

Vieira will be a big loss for Thomas Christiansen on Saturday, but you would think that they will still have enough firepower to beat bottom side Birmingham. Eunan O’Kane and Kalvin Phillips are expected to line up in midfield in Vieira’s absence, and that partnership should see Leeds through with their fifth win in a row.
