Georges-Kevin N’Koudou may be loaned out in January due to the return of Erik Lamela to the side, according to the Independent.

The newspaper claims in their club by club preview of the January transfer window, that if Lamela takes N’Koudou place in Spurs’ Champions League squad than he maybe loaned out.

The Independent report that while there’s an issue with Spurs lacking a “spark” in the wide ares, the club are more likely to lose one than add one.

N’Koudou has featured five times across all competitions for Tottenham this season, with only one of those appearances coming in the Premier League.

The winger last featured in Spurs’ Champions League game against APOEL Nicosia in early December, where he scored a goal as Tottenham emerged 3-0 winners.

Lamela has already featured more than N’Koudou this season, making 7 appearances, despite only returning from a long-term injury in November.

Good move for Tottenham?

N’Koudou is only 22 and could benefit from playing regular football, especially if he is to be dropped from Spurs’ Champions League squad. The majority of his appearances have come in that competition for Spurs this season, and with Lamela getting fitter with every game, it’s going to be hard for him to break into the first-team.

However, Tottenham are a little light in depth regarding wide positions, and with Lamela only just coming back from a long injury, it seems a risk to rely on him alone.

Likely to happen?

There would be a host of clubs interested in N’Koudou considering he’s featured in the Champions League and shown glimpses of his raw talent this season. His sheer speed makes him an exciting option. This interest could further tempt Spurs to loan him out, however Mauricio Pochettino will be aware that his team have a lot of games left to play, and they need cover for injuries.

Tottenham have struggled with key players being ruled out by injury, and Pochettino would rather have cover for positions than a youngster gain experience at this time.
