This is no longer a blip. Even an extended one.

It is not hyperbolic to assert that Leeds United are in the midst of a full-blown crisis that threatens the very outcome of their season.

Thomas Christiansen’s side slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Brentford on Saturday evening, a sixth loss in seven Championship matches and seventh in eight games in all competitions.

The team’s excellent start to the season – they topped the table in mid-September – is now a distant memory as concern spreads to how deep-rooted the problems are.

For all the excellence of Samuel Saiz, the one man who consistently delivers for Leeds and is above criticism, Leeds are constantly making the same mistakesĀ as the harsh reality is brought home that Christiansen’s side must make vast and wide-ranging improvements to mount a genuine promotion challenge.
