Pontus Jansson completed 90 minutes in the win over Middlesbrough on Sunday – and the Leeds United fans on Twitter were thrilled with his performance

The Whites recorded a 2-1 home win at the weekend and ensured it was a disappointing return to Elland Road for Garry Monk in the away dugout.

Pablo Hernández opened the scoring the first-half for the hosts as he arrived late at the back post to fire in from close-range.

The Spaniard then turned provider in the second period as his cross was turned in by teammate Ezgjan Alioski in the penalty area.

Boro set up a dramatic finale through Britt Assombalonga’s converted penalty in the 77th minute, but Thomas Chistiansen’s side managed to hold out for the win.

The Yorkshire giants have ended their poor run of form and the three points lifted them up to seventh in the Championship table.

Leeds fans on social media were particularly impressed with their centre-back Jansson and believe he was back to his best with a dominant display.

Jansson has come under some criticism from fans for parts of this campaign and has not been a guaranteed starter, with fierce competition from Liam Cooper and Matthew Pennington.

However, the Sweden international looked back to his best at the weekend and managed to rediscover some of the form that made him a firm favourite last season.

He is renowned for being a big physical presence and showed his dominance with some no-nonsense tackling against Boro.
