Leeds best possible XI against Boro

|

Goalkeeper and defence

Felix Wiedwald (Goalkeeper) – Andy Lonergan has had a decent run but Leeds need to recall Felix Wiedwald, who has had chance to lick his wounds, work on his game and restore his mind and body. The German is far better suited to the distribution-based playing style that Christiansen wants and should be recalled.

Vurnon Anita (Right-back) – The former Newcastle man has started only half of Leeds’ league matches this season but has been more consistent than either Luke Ayling or Gaetano Berardi, who have been in poor form of late. Ayling should pay the price for some horrible recent displays.

Liam Cooper (Centre-back) – The skipper’s form has nosedived in recent weeks but he is the best partner for Pontus Jansson.

Pontus Jansson (Centre-back) – Leeds’ best defender – whatever his Instagram page says – must start and begin the process of rediscovering his lost mojo. When it returns, expect Leeds to start accumulating points again.

Gaetano Berardi (Left-back) – Wholehearted but limited, Berardi should keep his place because there is no way Cameron Borthwick-Jackson can be trusted in what will be a feisty encounter.
