Leeds United slumped to their second comprehensive defeat of the week following their 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday – and fans took to Twitter to rave about the performance of Samuel Saiz.
The Spaniard was recalled to the starting XI after being surprisingly omitted on Tuesday when Leeds lost 3-1 at Cardiff City.
Gary Hooper’s first-half double set Wednesday on their way and Kieran Lee drilled in emphatically from 30 yards for the third, sealing a first win in four Championship matches.
Leeds, for whom Pierre-Michel Lasogga hit the post, slipped to fifth with their third loss in four league games, with all three defeats coming away from home.
Saiz missed a fine opportunity for United in the second period but his touch and creativity was central to the team’s only sustained spell of pressure in the match.
Leeds fans have spoken glowingly of the playmaker since his summer arrival for around £3million from Spanish second-tier club Huesca, and he was the only player supporters raved about in the wake of their loss to Wednesday.

Weird thing about today. I had a feeling that if Alioski had put away that header, Weds would have collapsed and Saiz run riot. #lufc

No sign of a plan b for #lufc Saiz only threat…midfield non-existent…back line ripped apart time and time again. As for the keeper ????????????
