Liverpool are the overwhelming favourites to sign Southampton defender in the January window, according to the latest betting odds.
Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have priced the Holland international, 26, at 5/2 to make a switch to Anfield before February 3.
Liverpool are strong favourites to land giant centre-back Van Dijk, while Manchester City (10/1), Arsenal (14/1), Manchester United (16/1) and Chelsea (20/1) are also in the bookies’ running.
Van Dijk’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation throughout 2017 with a cluster of big clubs keen on signing him.
A move to Liverpool appeared to be a formality until they were accused of tapping the Holland international up in June.
Van Dijk, who stands at 6ft 5in, subsequently tried to engineer a move to Anfield by handing in a transfer request but Southampton held firm in their desire to hold on to the £60million-rated ace.
The Dutchman has been building up his fitness since the summer transfer window shut and started his first match since January on Saturday as the Saints lost 2-1 at Stoke City.
