Ezgjan Alioski was again given the nod to start for Leeds United in their 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United on Friday night – and the majority of fans slaughtered his display on Twitter.
Attacking midfielder Alioski was named in the starting XI for the 12th time in Leeds’ 14 league fixtures this season as manager Thomas Christiansen made nine changes to the side that lost 3-1 to Leicester City in the League Cup in midweek.
The Macedonia international played 70 minutes at Elland Road before being substituted in favour of Pablo Hernandez as he once again failed to complete a match.
Sheffield United went top of the Championship thanks to David Brooks’ late winner at the home of their Yorkshire rivals.
Billy Sharp put the visitors in front with a second-minute header that keeper Andy Lonergan could not keep out, as the Blades controlled the early stages with some excellent play.
Kalvin Phillips equalised for the hosts with a cleanly-struck volley from the edge of the area before the break.
Samuel Saiz’s swerving strike hit the post for Leeds before substitute Brooks won the game with a calm, low finish.
On what was another emphatic defeat for Leeds against a promotion rival, supporters pointed out where Alioski went wrong on social media.
