Leeds United fans destroyed Liam Cooper on Twitter after they sank to their fifth defeat in six matches in all competitions against Sheffield United on Friday night.
Cooper was partnered by Matthew Pennington in central defence for the second consecutive league match but the partnership looked all at sea against the impressive visitors.
The Elland Road skipper lasted 56 minutes of the match before a dead leg led to him being replaced by Pontus Jansson, who failed to make the starting XI once again.
Leeds struggled to contain Chris Wilder’s side even though Thomas Christiansen selected 10 of the side who defeated Bristol City the previous weekend, with the only change being the inclusion of Vurnon Anita for the suspended Gaetano Berardi.
Billy Sharp put the visitors in front with a second-minute header that keeper Andy Lonergan could not keep out, as the Blades controlled the early stages with some excellent play.
Kalvin Phillips equalised for the hosts with a cleanly-struck volley from the edge of the area before the break but United dominated and substitute Brooks won the game with a calm, low finish.
The win lifted Sheffield United to the top of the table while Leeds are in fourth and seven points adrift of their promotion rivals before the rest of the weekend fixtures.
Cooper was singled out for criticism by Leeds fans on social media after another defeat which many admitted was fully deserved.

Pennington & Cooper never again a disaster, both were tripping over their own feet & not good enough players to play out from the back #lufc

Why Cooper is anywhere near the 11 is outrageous, never mind club captain. Pennington just as bad. Need big investment in that area #lufc
