Pontus Jansson completed 90 minutes for Leeds United in the away loss to Leicester on Tuesday night – and the club’s supporters on Twitter were disappointed with his performance.
The defender is currently going through a difficult spelt and has been dropped from the best league XI, but got his opportunity with a start in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
He was unable to deal with Premier League opposition Leicester as the Whites slipped to a 3-1 defeat, despite holding their own for large parts of the game.
Thomas Christiansen’s side were ahead through Pablo Hernandez’s long-range strike after 26 minutes, but Kelechi Iheanacho, Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez chalked up goals for the hosts in response.
Jansson was hopeful of impressing the manager to earn his place back in the starting XI ahead of the clash against Sheffield United on Friday.
However, he could find it difficult to dislodge the pair of Liam Cooper and Matthew Pennington after his efforts against Leicester.
Leeds fans on social media teared into Jansson for his display against Leicester and feel he has lost the edge to his game that made him a cult hero last season.

Terrible defending from Jansson and poor keeping from Wiedwald, no wonder those two were dropped #LUFC

Jansson was a firm fan favourite last season at Elland Road and was named in the Championship team of the year after his powerhouse displays.
However, he has found it more difficult this season to recreate that form and was found wanting against Leicester’s Premier League attack.
