Leeds United supremo Andrea Radrizzani promised on Twitter that his team will respond to their second defeat in five days by “working harder” to recapture their early season form.

Radrizzani took to social media to deliver his verdict after Leeds lost 3-0 at Sheffield Wednesday following their midweek 3-1 loss at leaders Cardiff City.

The Leeds owner pointed out on his personal Twitter account that “we weren’t champions last week” when they topped the Championship table and their season has not slipped away following two defeats in a row.

Radrizzani promised that his side will aim to recapture the fluency that marked their football in the early weeks of the campaign through hard graft.

Leeds dropped one place in the table to fifth as a result of their defeat at Hillsborough on Sunday against bitter rivals Wednesday.

A Gary Hooper double and a Kieran Lee striker secured a comprehensive win for the home side, who were 15th in the table going into Sunday’s match.

OPINION

Radrizzani has established a reputation as a sensible owner since replacing the madcap Massimo Cellino, and his Twitter post in the wake of a dispiriting defeat was typically controversy-free. Not for him the emotional and occasionally daft posts of his Aston Villa counterpart Tony Xia. Radrizzani’s point is that the season is a marathon and not a sprint, and there will be plenty of twists and turns along the way. That does not mean he will not have been pained as he watched his side’s wretched display from the stands at Hillsborough.
