Three wingers Newcastle should sign instead of Murphy

Andros Townsend

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez should consider re-signing winger Andros Townsend during the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League with Crystal Palace over the past season and showed his versatility throughout the campaign too.

Townsend played on both the left and right wing which will provide Benitez with options if he was to move back to St. James’ Park over the coming weeks.

The England international moved to the Tyneside club in January last year, but made a swift exit and was sold to Palace just six months later.

Although Crystal Palace finished in a disappointing 14th place in the Premier League, Townsend provided a consistent performance throughout after he made 40 appearances across all competitions where he scored three goals and provided a further seven assists.

His pace and precision will be needed within the Newcastle squad next season and bringing the winger back to St. James’ Park would be a fantastic decision.
