Former midfielder turned BBC pundit Jermaine Jenas has told that he believes Kyle Walker’s transfer from Tottenham is “great business” for Manchester City and he’s surprised the club have sold to a direct rival.

The official Manchester City Twitter account confirmed the signing of the 27-year-old on Friday afternoon.

There was no mention of a fee from City, but the BBC reported that he had cost the cash-rich Premier League side a massive £45million plus add-ons.

It was a fee that brought regular debates in recent days as to who was getting the better deal out of the two English top-flight sides and Jenas, who has his allegiances to Tottenham told his followers via his personal Twitter account on Friday that he was surprised Spurs sold to a direct competitor and that he now hopes he’s wrong about the message the deal sends out.

Walker completed a move to Tottenham all the way back in 2009 alongside Kyle Naughton from Sheffield United in a combined deal of £9million.

He has since gone on to make 229 appearances in his eight years at the club and made himself one of the Premier League’s best right-backs in recent years.

However, Spurs will now be keen to replace him with the mega-money received as they play to make another attempt at the league title.
