Aston Villa are among three English clubs eyeing a move for Ostersund forward Jamie Hopcutt, according to HITC Sport.

The news outlet have named the Midlands giants alongside close rivals Wolves and Premier League side Brighton as looking at a transfer for the 25-year-old following his standout display against Galatasary in the Europa League on Thursday.

The attacker, who has formerly been a part of York City and Tadcaster Albion is said to have enhanced his reputation with his fine solo effort against the Turkish giant’s in his side’s surprise 2-0 home victory in the Europa League qualifying stage.

It is reported that the striker has also alerted a number of English clubs with his form in the current campaign and that he would cost somewhere in the region of £1.5million.

York-born Hopcutt moved out to Sweden and joined Ostersunds after a successful trial period in 2012 after being on the books of Northern Counties East League side Tadcaster.

He has since bagged 39 goals in 116 matches in total with five of those strikes coming in nine appearances in all competitions in the current Swedish domestic season.

Manager Steve Bruce could now be tempted to move for a player with experience of playing in Europe in order to add more firepower alongside the likes of Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan and Ross McCormack.
