Summer appointment Thomas Christiansen has thanked Leeds fans for their support following his first meeting with the famous crowd on Saturday against Guiseley.

The 44-year-old Dane led the Yorkshire giants out for their second pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday following a midweek clash against Harrogate at Thorp Arch.

Unlike the Wednesday clash, the Guiseley encounter was played in front of a crowd at Nethermoor Park and Leeds supporters got to see what their team would look like under Christiansen for the first time.

It also gave the manager the first taste of what was to come with the vocal support and on his personal Instagram account on Saturday evening he paid special tribute to the fan base, stating that it was a “great atmosphere.”

Former Barcelona player Christiansen was appointed as Leeds boss in June following the departure of successful manager Garry Monk earlier in the summer.

He has only previously managed in Cyprus with both AEK Larnaca and APOEL and he has big boots to fill at the Yorkshire club following last season’s seventh placed finish.

However, many are also excited going into the new campaign and Leeds fans have so far been happy with their summer window which has seen Madger Gomes, Mateusz Klich, Hadi Sacko, Felix Wiedwald and Vurnon Anita all join alongside Christiansen.
