Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has offered his congratulations to Pep Clotet on Twitter after he secured his first management job in English football.

The Spaniard had his last day at Leeds on Friday following a shake-up of the coaching staff and on Saturday morning he was announced as the new manager of League One side Oxford United.

It is Clotet’s first manager’s job since he was in charge at Swedish club Halmstad in 2011.

Radrizzani, who gained full ownership of the Whites just two days before former Leeds manager Garry Monk resigned, has shown on his personal Twitter account that he appreciated the work of Clotet as Leeds finished seventh in the Championship last season.

“Congratulations Pep Clotet. Thank you for a good job at Leeds and good luck at Oxford United,” said the Italian businessman.

Ex-assistant manager Clotet, 40, joined fellow coaches Craig Beattie and Darryl Flahavan in leaving Leeds in the wake of the exit of Monk, who was appointed the manager of Middlesbrough two weeks later.

Thomas Christiansen has subsequently been named as the new Elland Road manager.

Clotet moved to England to work in Michael Laudrup’s backroom staff at Swansea following a spell as manager of Malaga B.

Monk would later replace the Dane as manager at the Liberty Stadium, which led to a three-year association with Clotet at Swansea and Leeds.
