Former Rangers ace Steven Naismith has claimed it would not come as a surprise to him if Norwich City star Graham Dorrans makes a move to Ibrox this summer.

Naismith is a current teammate of Dorrans at Carrow Road, and he was keen to praise him in an interview with the Scottish Sun.

However, Naismith also admitted that Dorrans has enquired about his time at Ibrox and that he could potentially be interested in a move north of the border.

He told the newspaper: “If it’s right for [Dorrans] it wouldn’t be a surprise. He’s always thought of playing for Rangers one day but there are so many factors. There’s a new manager and it all depends on if a deal can be done.

“He has talked to me about it, not so much if he fancies going, more about how it was in my time there. There is certainly an interest there.”

Naismith’s comments come after a report in Saturday’s Scottish Sun stated the Gers were ready to table a £1.2million bid for Dorrans within the next 48 hours.

It was said Rangers have already had a £700,000 bid for the 30-year-old midfielder rejected, but they are confident with a bigger offer they can prise him away from East Anglia.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports Scotland reported last week that Rangers had made an offer of just under £1million for the Scottish midfielder.

Dorrans was as a mainstay in the Canaries’ midfield last term, playing 26 league and cup games, which yielded six goals and one assist.

He signed for Norwich in the summer of 2015 in a £3.5million move from West Brom, and he has since made 67 appearances in all competitions for the club.

During his six season spell with the Baggies he was a real attacking threat from midfield, scoring 26 goals in 189 league and cup games.
