Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters has expressed his delight on Twitter after he helped the England under-20s win the World Cup.

Paul Simpon’s side beat Venezuela 1-0 on Sunday afternoon to guide the Three Lions to their first major international trophy since the 1966 World Cup winning team.

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal of the match when his first-half strike was enough to clinch the world crown.

During the second half, Walker-Peters fouled Malaga forward Adalberto Penaranda in the penalty area but Newcastle shot-stopper Freddie Woodman saved the penalty.

After the encounter, Spurs ace Walker-Peters posted this message on his personal Twitter account as he was clearly delighted with the win.

“Absolutely buzzing,” said Walker-Peters. “Champions. Thanks for the support along the way.”

London-born Walker-Peters has come through the ranks at White Hart Lane added with the fact that he has represented England at the under-20s, under-19s and under-18s levels.

However, he is yet to taste senior football with Tottenham but his recent triumph with England could possibly see him earn some sort of game time for Mauricio Pochettino’s side next season.

The Argentine has proven during his time at the club that he is keen on giving the younger players the chance, with the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Winks examples of this.

Attacking midfielder Alli was purchased from League One outfit MK Dons when he was a teenager, while midfielder Winks has come through the academy.
