Rangers have completed the signing of Pumas ace Eduardo Herrera, it has been confirmed.

The 28-year-old striker has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal, but a transfer fee is not mentioned by the Glasgow giants.

The Gers announced the news on their official website and on their official Twitter account on Thursday evening.

Herrera becomes Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha’s eighth signing of the summer as Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Dalcio, Fabio Cardoso, Daniel Candeias, attacker Alfredo Morelos and Carlos Pena have all already completed moves.

The 28-year-old is well acquainted with his new boss, as he played under him during Caixinha’s spell at Mexican club Santos Laguna.

The confirmation comes after the Daily Record reported earlier this month that the Mexican international had arrived in Glasgow to seal the deal, but it appears work permit issues slowed the transfer down significantly.

Herrera spent the latter half of last season on loan at Veracruz, scoring two goals in eight league games for the club.

However, he spent the first half of the 2016-17 campaign with his parent club, where he netted four goals in 21 appearances in all competitions.

The 28-year-old has been capped by Mexico on nine occasions, and he has scored three goals, but he has not featured since the 2-0 friendly win over Senegal in February of last year.
